Trampolining

Trampolining is a sport in which gymnasts perform acrobatics while boucing on a large trampoline. Already long known by trapeze artists, it became a sport in the mid 1940's in the USA, with the first competition being held at Dallas, Texas in 1946. In the 1950's the sport spread to Europe. When Trampolinists were exiled from gymnastics meets, the International Trampoline Federation was founded in 1964. Trampoline matured and the ITF merged into the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique in 1999. There are four disciplines: next to trampolining there is synchronized trampolining, tumbling and double-mini trampolining. For more info see Wikipedia.
