Tug of War, also known as rope pulling, is a sport which directly pits two teams against each other in a test of strength. Teams consist of eight pullers, whose total mass must not exceed the maximum weight determined for the class. There is a 'centre line' and the rope is marked with two markings four meters from the centre line. A pull has been won as a team pulls the other team so far that the marking crosses the centre line. The Tug of War International Federation was founded in 1960.
