Snooker
Snooker originiated from the various pocket billiard games that were played in England. The English officer Neville Chamberlain experimented with the number of balls and colors in the late 1870's in India, and invented the game of snooker: played with 15 reds, 6 colored balls and a cue-ball. The game spread towards England. The object of the game is to score more points than the opponent; points are scored in two ways, for fouls by the opponent and by legally potting reds or colors. The pro game is organised by the World Snooker Association. The International Billiards & Snooker Federation governes the amateur game and was founded in 1971.
