Pelota
Pelota is a name for a variety of court sports played with a ball using one's hand, a racket a wooden bat (pala), or a basket propulsor (cesta), against a wall (fronton) or with two teams separated by a line or a net on a special court (trinquete). The origins of the game can be traced to the game of real tennis. Pelota is played in the Basque region and their neigbours, and has spread to rural areas in Europe and the Americas. The FIPV, the Federación Internacional de Pelota Vasca, was founded in 1929.
