The nordic combined is a winter sport in which competitors compete in both cross-country skiing and ski jumping. Norwegian soldiers are known to have been competing in nordic combined since the 18th century, but the first major competition was held in 1892 at the Holmenkollen in Oslo. Until the 1960s the cross-country race was held first, followed by the ski jumping, but this was reversed to enhance the competition. Nordic Combined is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Ski, which was founded in 1924. For more info see Wikipedia.
