Modern Pentathlon
The Modern Pentathlon consists of 5 disciplines: equestrian (show jumping), fencing (epee), shooting (air pistol shooting), swimming (200m free) and running (cross-country 3000m). The origins of this event can be found in the history of military. All events are awarded with points, and the 5 disciplines have had changes within over the years. The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne was founded in 1948.
