Gymnastics

Gymnastics was already very popular in the days of ancient Greece and Rome, and was therefore part of the anthic Olympic Games. The modern disciplines of gymnastics originated in the 18th century in Germany. The famous father of 'gymnastics' is Friedrich Jahn, who founded the gymnastics club in Berlin in 1811. The Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique was founded in 1881. Of course has gymnastics been part of the modern Olympics from the first event in 1896. For more info see Wikipedia.
