Freestyle Skiing

In the 1980's freestyle skiing originated from its alpine skiing roots. Tricks and jumps were the base for the sport, for which special courses were constructed. There are several events: aerials (where jumps are made from a ramp), moguls (runs on bumps filled slope), halfpipe (where jumps are made on a halfpipe formed track) and ski cross (direct competition on rugged slopes). Freestyle skiing is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Ski, which was founded in 1924. For more info see Wikipedia.
