Bobsleigh


Bobsleigh or Bobsled is a winter sport, in which teams make timed runs down buil ice-covered tracks in a gravity-powered, steerable sled. The first competitions were held in the 1880's in St. Moritz, Switzerland; and it's that place where the first bobtrack, now the only surviving natural track, was build in 1902. There are events for the 2-man and the 4-man bob, results are made up of 4 runs. Since the late 1990's women started to compete in 2-man bobsleighs. Bobsleigh is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobagganing, which was founded in 1912. For more info see Wikipedia.
