Billiard finds it's roots in 15th century France. The game spread towards England, and different versions of billiards were common. Pool and Snooker originated from pocket billiards in England, while the French game of carom billiards is still known as Billiard. Carom billiard is played with three balls on a pocketless table. The object was to hit both of the object balls with the cue ball, called a carom or a billiard. The most well know variant of billiards is three cushion billiards, in which the cue ball has to hit at least three cushions before striking the second object ball.
