Badminton
The origins of this sport go back around 2000 years in China, where a game similar to badminton was played. The game as we know it today was developed by British soldiers in Pune (ind) in the 19th century, and from there found it's way from Asia to Europe. Badminton is a racquet sport, played by players or pairs taking either side of a net. The object is to hit a shuttlecock using a racquet over the net such that the opposing player or pair can't hit it back - all within the rules of the game. The International Badminton Federation was founded in 1934.
